Among  several other ranges in Pakistan, Karakoram Mountain ranges are the largest in magnitude of distance it covers. Ranging from the city of Wakhan corridor with Afghanistan covers almost entire Gilgit Baltistan region of Pakistan.

Karakoram ranges are only second to Himalayas when we discuss the highest mountain range of the world. Karakoram highway or N-35

The Karakoram national highway is also known as the eigth wonder of the world. Covering the path of 1300km connecting regions of Pakistan to China border. It is one the most popular tourist attraction of Karakoram ranges. A ride through this highway for a tourist is a must go in Pakistan.
It is considered to be one of the highest paved highway in the world .Karakoram highway passes through Khunjerab pass that on altitude of approximately 4500m from sea level.

Khunjerab pass is the world's highest paved international border. A fun fact about Karakoram highway is that it also host's an ATM that's recognized to be situated at the highest altitude in the world (Off course any tourist would love to visit this ATM with such a cool title).

Peaks of Karakoram Range

There are many peaks in Karakoram range however in total 8 notable peaks of Karakoram Range are that exceeds the altitude of 7500m. and these gigantic peaks have made a separate name of their greatness and magnificence.

K-2 the world's second highest peak is among these notable 8 peaks.

Climate

As everyone can already assume, due to high altitude the climate in Karakoram ranges is usually Severe. Towards the northern part of Karakoram range the region is mostly dry, however the southern part receives monsoon winds that are moist in nature.

Well it's notable fact about climate that average temperature noted in Karakoram Range is about 1 Degree Celsius during the hottest month. Finding snow hammocks in Karakoram Range is normal, that may range from height of 2-3feets.Precipetation in Karakoram ranges is usually in form of snow.
This severe Climate condition is one reason for scarce population in Karakoram ranges unlike the foots of Himalayas that are comparatively much more populated.

  The most densely populated area in Karakoram ranges are Gilgit (Another tourist attraction in Karakoram Rage Popular for its trekking) and Skardu (Popular for scenic beauty and Apricot blossom). A native of Karakoram originates their family links to people of ancient generals like Genghis khan and Alexander the Great.
